1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using the Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) ICT Learning Portal, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this site.

2. User Accounts & Access

Access to the portal is restricted to authorized personnel and students of the Faculty of ICT.

• Students: Must use their own accounts for coursework, project submissions, and logbook entries. Sharing credentials is strictly prohibited.
• Lecturers: Are responsible for managing course content, grading, and student assessments securely and fairly.
• Administrators: Have access to system-wide settings and data for maintenance and support purposes.

3. Acceptable Use Policy

Users agree to use the system only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else's use and enjoyment of the portal. Prohibited behavior includes:

• Attempting to gain unauthorized access to the system or other user accounts.
• Uploading malicious software, viruses, or harmful code.
• Harassing, bullying, or discriminating against other users.
• Plagiarism or submitting work that is not your own.

4. Privacy & Data Protection

We are committed to protecting your personal information. Data collected (names, registration numbers, grades, logs) is used exclusively for academic administration and record-keeping.

• Data Usage: Your data is used to track academic progress, manage course enrollments, and facilitate communication.
• Confidentiality: Student records are confidential and accessible only to authorized faculty and staff.
• Data Retention: Academic records are retained in accordance with university retention policies.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

• University Materials: All course materials, lecture notes, and system designs provided by the university remain the intellectual property of RUCU.
• Student Work: Students retain copyright of their original project submissions and coursework, but grant the university a non-exclusive license to archive and use the work for academic assessment and accreditation purposes.

6. Academic Integrity

The ICT Learning Portal supports the university's commitment to academic honesty. Any attempt to manipulate grades, falsify logbook entries, or submit plagiarized projects will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with RUCU's academic regulations.

7. Limitation of Liability

The portal is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. RUCU shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the portal, including data loss or service interruptions due to maintenance or technical failures.

8. Modifications to Terms

RUCU reserves the right to revise these terms of use at any time without notice. By using this website you are agreeing to be bound by the then current version of these Terms and Conditions of Use.
